New Major in «Sustainable Tourism and International Development»
The topic is undoubtedly attracting increased international interest: The year 2017 was declared the UN Year of Sustainable Tourism for Development and is organised and carried out by UNWTO. The HTW Chur is the only educational institution to be an official partner.
The major, which is run in English, will start in the fall semester 2017/18 and offer students a sound basis in the field of sustainability and development. The major is divided into four logically coordinated modules and deals with topics such as globalisation and sustainable development in tourism, corporate social responsibility (CSR), principles of international development cooperation, sustainable development goals in connection with sustainable development goals or marketing sustainable tourism offers. Through the specialist knowledge acquired in the major, graduates can assume an exciting, future-oriented specialist or management position in the field of sustainability at a Swiss tourism company or in international tourism, creatively create their own future in the field of sustainable tourism and international development as a social entrepreneur with their own ideas or strive for a consecutive Master's degree in the field of development cooperation or sustainability management in business and tourism.
