The Institute for Tourism and Leisure ITF was founded in 1993 as the Institute for Tourism Management together with the Academia Engiadina. In the following years, a tourism competence centre in the field of applied and practice-oriented research was established. The institute employs experts from the disciplines of business, economics and regional economics as well as leisure economics and works in scientific research, training and further education as well as in the field of services for private companies and public institutions. Guided on the one hand by the growing demand of the tourism and leisure industry for innovative solutions, but also in order to meet the need to combine work and education, a new tourism degree course was developed in 2016: Service Design. This offer started in the autumn semester of 2017 and represents a new era for the ITF, in that, for the first time, a part-time course is offered and, on the other hand, the generalist approach gives way to greater specialisation.
