Service Designer: A new job description is emerging
The Bachelor's degree in Service Design provides basic business knowledge, tourism as a representative of the fast-growing service sector and the application of the latest technologies. The word «service» in Service Design stands for services and «design» for the creation of new or optimization of existing services. These are market-oriented services that offer a high level of customer benefit.
Service designers work in process development, guest guidance, customer service or event management. They create or optimise new service offerings, online solutions, apps, ticket systems, customer interfaces, experience worlds, communication channels and service-supporting products.
The courses on offer are primarily aimed at candidates who have already taken their first successful steps in professional life. After successful completion of the four-year part-time study program, graduates receive the title «Bachelor of Science FHO in Tourism with specialization in Service Design». While a large number of majors and minors are available for full-time studies in tourism, the «Service Design» specialisation with around 60 ECTS is pre-defined for part-time studies.
